An Ancient Sea
Around 600 million years ago, in the Precambrian era, a shallow sea covered what is now northern Pakistan. As it slowly evaporated, it left behind vast beds of crystalline salt, later sealed beneath layers of rock. Protected from the outside world for eons, these deposits remain among the purest salt on earth — mineral-rich, unrefined and untouched by modern pollution.

The Salt Range & Kallar Kahar
Those ancient beds surface today in Pakistan's Salt Range, the folded hills that run through Punjab. At their heart lies Kallar Kahar in the Chakwal district — a landscape of lakes and salt-laden earth where salt has been worked for generations. This is our home, and the source of every crystal we ship.

Our Mines, Our Hands
Wanhar Impex was founded in the heart of Pakistan's salt belt, and our work still begins underground at our own Kallar Kahar mines. Our team extracts pure, mineral-rich crystals by hand, the way generations of salt harvesters before us did — then applies stringent quality control and ethical labour practices through every stage of grading, cutting and finishing.
